Meet Crush and Fanta, our dynamic duo of velcro dogs, each with their own unique talents and quirks that make them truly extraordinary.
Their contrasting personalities only add to the richness of our lives.

Crush, affectionately dubbed the "half Vizsla, half mermaid," seems to have been born with fins instead of paws, as she joyfully leaps into the water without a second thought. Fanta, on the other hand, takes a more cautious approach, preferring to dip her toes in when the heat of the trails becomes too much to bear. When Fanta was just a pup, our home lacked a pool, perhaps explaining her initial hesitation towards water. However, with the arrival of Crush and our new pool, everything changed. Watching Crush's adorable puppy caution turn into fearless determination as she eagerly pursued treats submerged in the water was nothing short of remarkable. Day by day, we nurtured her comfort in the water, guiding her from tentative steps to confident swims and daring leaps. Now, she's a bona fide water enthusiast, her enthusiasm for splashing around knows no bounds. With patience and love, we've witnessed Crush transform from a cautious pup to a water-loving marvel, proving that with the right encouragement, any dog can embrace their unique talents and passions.

With a boundless love for the beach, Crush's passion for surfing knows no bounds. In 2022, Crush made waves of her own when he triumphed in the Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon contest in Del Mar, clinching the 1st place win in the small dog category. With her sleek coat glistening in the sun and an unmatched enthusiasm for catching waves, Crush embodies the perfect blend of athleticism and spirit that defines the Vizsla breed. Whether she's gliding across the waves or digging in the sand, Crush's zest for life is as contagious as the salty sea breeze.

Crush's initial fascination with jumping into the pool evolved into a full-blown passion for dock diving, where she found her true calling. What started as a playful leap transformed into a competitive pursuit, propelling her to extraordinary heights in the sport. With determination and skill, Crush shattered records with a jaw-dropping dive of over 20 feet in our pool, showcasing her natural talent and boundless enthusiasm. Her dedication and prowess didn't go unnoticed, earning her both junior and master dock diving titles, solidifying her status as a standout athlete in the dock diving community. Through countless hours of training and sheer love for the water, Crush has emerged as a shining star, embodying the spirit of athleticism and adventure.

Fanta and Crush are avid explorers of the picturesque trails winding through our local treasure, Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. Among our favorite routes are those leading to Duck Pond, Duck Pond Waterfalls, and the scenic paths tracing the meandering creek and its charming crossings. Opting for off-leash hikes, particularly during tranquil weekday mornings when the trails are less crowded, allows us to fully immerse ourselves in nature alongside our well-trained companions. We've encountered our fair share of wildlife, including coyotes, deer, and even rattlesnakes during our outings. One memorable encounter with two coyotes showcased our pups unwavering loyalty and protective instincts as they remained steadfastly by our side-- illustrating their role as both companions and guardians on our adventures. Although deer occasionally grace our path, their focus remains on smaller, swifter prey like birds and bunnies – a testament to their innate birddog instincts. Fanta's love for chasing birds and bunnies never takes her too far from us, always returning promptly. Our at-home training ensures they keeps a safe distance from rattlesnakes on the trail. For added precaution, those who frequent trails may consider a Rattlesnake vaccine.
Fanta & Crush are the best mountain biking dogs. They love to hear dad say "want to go for a bike ride?" They started joining dad on super short little rides when they were young, but not too young. They have been dad's riding buddies ever since their growth plates closed and Fanta a record ride of 24 miles. We don't like to push her that much usually but she was just feeling like a beast that day! The key to a happy dog on the trails is good hydration. Make sure your dog knows how to drink from a hydration pack. Try short rides on-leash first. Upgrade to off-leash and reward heavily for good behavior! Our girls are so well-behaved we don't worry about her getting distracted by other bikers, dogs, or even the rare coyote or deer encounter. Again, if you are out on the trails a lot, you may want to look into a Rattlesnake vaccine. Fanta is so obsessed with mountain biking when she's home she'll grab dads mountain biking shoes or gloves and cozy up with it on her dog bed. It's incredible she doesn't chew it or damage it in any way--she just wants to bond with dad's gear. That's love. Enough said :)
